Sustainable Agricultural Development and Livelihood

Smiley face India, known for its agrarian economy, has a significant rural population engaged in agricultural activities. Madhya Pradesh mirrors this trend, with 72.40% of its population residing in rural areas according to the 2011 Census of India. In Satna and its neighboring districts, the livelihoods of many individuals rely heavily on agriculture.

However, the agricultural sector in these areas is currently grappling with substantial challenges. Rising temperatures, erratic rainfall patterns, and water scarcity have led to significant losses for farmers, making it increasingly difficult for them to sustain themselves economically. As a result, numerous farmers have abandoned agricultural pursuits and sought alternative employment as daily wage laborers or in other odd jobs.

Consequently, this has triggered a significant migration of people from their homes and villages to urban areas in search of better livelihood prospects. Nevertheless, those who have migrated to cities face their own set of problems.

Furthermore, the use of agrochemicals has contributed to reduced agricultural productivity. These chemicals often contaminate the soil and water, while also harming beneficial organisms crucial for crop growth.

To address these pressing issues, Samaritan Social Service Society strongly advocates for the adoption of traditional agricultural methods. By embracing Integrated Pest Management and Integrated Nutrition Management techniques, farmers can increase crop productivity without resorting to toxic substances. Samaritan Social Service Society is actively engaged in implementing various activities and initiatives aimed at assisting farmers in maximizing their agricultural yields while preserving the environment.

Dedicated to the welfare of farmers, Samaritan Social Service Society provides valuable support and assistance, empowering farmers to sustain themselves and thrive in their endeavors.
