Quality Eye Health Care
Eye health care is a crucial aspect of overall well-being, yet it is often overlooked and neglected. The
accessibility to quality eye health care services in rural and remote areas of Madhya Pradesh poses a significant
challenge. While district and community health centers are available, the quality and promptness of services are
often lacking. This issue is exacerbated for individuals residing in isolated and distant locations, as they face
difficulties in accessing health care services.
The primary reasons behind these challenges are the inefficiency of existing health care systems and the absence of adequate transportation facilities. Additionally, the economic condition of individuals plays a significant role. The majority of the populations in these areas are engaged in agricultural or daily wage labor, where missing even a single day of work can have a substantial impact on their financial stability. Consequently, people often turn to local village doctors for medical assistance, only resorting to hospital visits when their condition worsens and necessitates critical medical intervention.
Samaritan Social Service Society is committed to ensuring that high-quality eye health care is within reach for everyone. To fulfill this objective, the society has implemented a range of initiatives, including eye screening camps and door-to-door eye screening. These activities are designed to provide comprehensive eye health services and make them easily accessible to all individuals.

Door-to-door eye screening emerges as a highly effective approach to provide essential eye care services to individuals residing in these areas. By bringing eye screenings directly to their doorsteps, rural and remote residents can conveniently receive regular eye check-ups without enduring long journeys. This not only promotes improved eye health but also saves valuable time and financial resources. Moreover, door-to-door eye screening plays a critical role in early detection of potential vision impairments, enabling timely treatment before they progress into irreversible damage or loss of vision.
Currently, individuals diagnosed with cataracts are brought to Samaritan Hospital, Pateri for necessary free treatment.
